The management of congenital/infantile cataracts is a continuous challenge for paediatric ophthalmologists. Though there have been major advances in surgical procedure, implantation of intraocular lenses remains a matter of debate. Intense follow-up of children having had surgery for congenital/infantile cataract is crucial for proper caring of potential complications and for optic rehabilitation. Prospective registration of surgery and follow-up offers a great advantage in meeting the challenges of managing congenital/infantile cataracts.
